RE: Well I’m in the market for a new truck

I usually feel a 3/4 ton will always be better than any 1/2 ton because of bigger brakes , stronger tires and a better towing rear gear.

RE: Shakeout at the top

We did the alpenlite tour and all was good and working overtime. You know how that turned out. The dealer in Chehelis Wa has 4 new alpenlites on the lot if anybody cares.

Does GMC offer a big enough gas engine for your needs?

RE: Older 5th wheels

We have a 35 ft alpenlite avalon that is our home for 6 months each winter and it is still a great home for us. It doesn't have lots of miles on it because we sit at one place but with the airhitch and air supension it doesn't know it is moving and this makes it last longer we hope.

RE: Alpenlite Owners - Anyone Flip Axles?

The problem the poster's alpenlite was made before the adjustable axle hangers were used. The first alpenlite that had the adjustable axles hangers was ours built in late March of 2001. It was my idea to do something to make our alpenlite higher but not the flip deal. Other brands had been using the idea earlier.

RE: Alpenlite Owners - Anyone Flip Axles?

I have a canadian friend that asked the alpenlite factory 3 years ago what was needed to raise his alpenlite. they sent him directions on how to add 2" and he did the job himself. 2" was all he needed since the flip deal is more than he needed.

RE: Alpenlite owners

We have owned our 2001 35 ft avalon since it was built. I know of no other brand in the friends we have that theirs was as good as ours or maybe the better way to say it (not any better) yahoo groups had a wrv forum but I think it just went away from lack of activity.

RE: Keeping a fifth wheel in top condition

One great way to keep any fifth in good condition is to have either an airhitch or air pin box.

RE: interior trim? baseboards, windows, crown moulding?

The problem with crown molding would be how to get a good connected to the wall and ceiling and might not be worth the effort because crown molding is a tough job because nothing is perfect and it might look worse.

RE: trailer saver vs air safe hitch

We have enjoyed our easyrider/reese airhitch since April 2001. It has been on 2 3500 dually chev trucks. No chucking of any kind so I don't understand others having this problem. We didn't have any chucking on the dodge with the steel to steel fifthwheel hitch either. Isn't the air safe product the company that sold the design from easyrider? I would look at the trailersaver if we need another hitch.
chevman
I could not find easyrider/reese air hitch? Maybe I overlook. I will try again. I kinda think they are not in business any longer but it was a good brand. Probably any brand will do a good job but it would be trailsaver if we ever need to buy again.

RE: Trading 07 Allegro Bus 42 QRP

One other thing then I'll shut up. The Phaeton is a very nice coach so you'll that have them can be proud. PI Folks this is a simple story of what I hear lots. We have a nicer rv than you but usually not a MH to same MH company but a MH couple telling us WHY do you just have a fifthwheel. This guy understand the good life.

RE: 2005 Chevy 2500HD LLY Diesel Truck

Our 05 3500 duramax is an awesome truck. Well after killerbee fixed it. I can't wait to tow the fifthwheel home in April again. Same story as last season after the first series of fixes and it is even better now.

RE: holding tank sensors

winnie uses external sensors so it isn't detritus fouling the sensors. you may have a loose wire or a bad sensor.
btw welcome to the forum.
this is what I was going to say. our 2001 alpenlite had outside sensors.

RE: Honda Yamaha 1000 Generator. What will they really power

I believe the 1000 inverter gen are not worth much but this is what we do. I have the honda 1000 and a 15 amp battery charger. I plug the charger into the front plug of the fifthwheel. The 15 amp charger is a manual model so the 4 batteries can charge and we use the inverter on the fifth for electricity. this has worked very well the few times we boondocked. The 2000 gen are a better unit.
The reason we have to do it this way is the hard wired surge protector won't allow either the 1000 or 2000 to enter the coach.
